On the Verge
I have spent the last 4 months unemployed. While this was not a planned retreat from the workplace, it has been very rewarding. I am thankful that I have embraced this time off and used it to better myself both physically and mentally.
It was amazing to me that I did not simply die when I lost my job. I had no income and supposedly even worse, no health insurance. I didn't skip a beat and life went on. My friends and family still loved me. My health improved and I was able to reach goals that could not have been met under normal circumstances.
During my time off, I have started to work with some groups whose sole purpose is to contribute to our community. So far, getting involved has been more rewarding than I had imagined. I have met people who have proven to be kind and wonderful. Opportunities have presented themselves to help others through my artistic abilities. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I have a purpose and that my art is finally taking on the role it was intended for.
It is amazing how everything falls into place when you trust life's process. When I recovered from a painful injury last year, I was forced to learn patience. There is no question that I used that lesson during this time of transition.
I am taking it all in stride and welcome the challenge.
