Thoughts on Journaling

As I have grow older, the reality that someone unintended could read my journal is clear.  I don't know how many eyes have scanned the pages of my thought process, but I'm not concerned.  I'm sure there are plenty who have peeked.

A few years ago, I decided that my journals would remain uncensored.  In other words, I would not refrain from writing things that were not to be shared with the world.  If I have ever left you alone in a room with my journal, it means that I don't expect you to read it, but if you did, I trust you enough to keep whatever you see close to your heart and far from your lips. If I am shunned because of something I write in my journal, then so be it.

I see my journal as a safe place for me to empty the loose change in my brain.  If you've ever dumped out a jar of change, you know that there is some dirt and strangeness in that jar along with the coins.  My journal is no different.

In the future, I will write my story and at that time, I will not omit experiences or feelings from fear of being judged.  I believe in facing the brutal facts and being honest about them.  I've had to be honest with myself and others in ways I didn't plan for lately.  As scary as facing the facts can be, it always leaves me with a refreshing feeling.  It's like when you crack the window in the dead of winter for a blast of fresh air.

I believe in honesty and open hearts.
