Dissatisfaction and other things that mystify me...
So an ongoing saga continues involving a hair-do of one of my co-workers. It began with the hunt for the perfect stylist... that ended in Aveda Land, and continues as she perpetually returns to her new-found stylist with complaints and visual aids to explain what she really wants her hair to be. This has been going on for about a year, now. During that time, I have had numerous hair styles and make-up changes with little to no thought on whether or not I am satisfied. Of course, I am more concerned about the great circumference of my ass than what is growing out of the top of my head, but still wonder how a person can be so consumed with something so trivial. This is not to say that I am not guilty of obsessing over what to wear or how I look. I'm pretty sure, I need to take my own advice on this one.
I find that the length of your hair, and perhaps the color is all that people notice. No one (outside the stylist world) studies your hair for imperfections, layers that shouldn't exist, or the way the strands lay over your ears. Its really the overall look that matters. I feel that if you use "the squint method" when you look in the mirror, you will have a better idea of how others perceive you.
A little more on The squint method: I use the squint method to see shadows and changes in color when I look at an object when I am going to draw or paint it. You squint your eyes until what you see is blurry.
Just putting that out there.
