Give me something to talk about

So, I started my summer semester at the local Community college this morning (I'm taking drawing). I wasn't expecting much excitement. I have the same professor as last semester's 2-D design class, so no surprises there. As many of you who have attended a public institution already know, one can expect a diverse set of students in such a place. I was please to see that 3 of the community college stereotypes were present. I will list them and their definitions below:

1. The over-anxious adult student- One who displays no embarrassment when asking retarded questions ie., "what do you mean when you say charcoal pencil?". The over-anxious adult Can often be found pulling a rolling suitcase... You know the type...

2. The Expert- One who believes they are all knowing on the subject your class deals with. Normally, "The Expert" has only taken a class or two on the subject or one or two classes on a sort of related topic. For example, I once encountered a hobby ceramist in a sculpture class who believed they knew all there was to know about making sculptures. The Expert has no problems interrupting the instructor to inform the class on how they should be completing the assignment or to merely express their opinion.

3. The very serious student who needs to be recognized as being very serious- That student in your class who demands to know the instructors credentials. You know the one that goes to community college, but boasts all day long about what it will be like when they get into that private art school.

So basically, I am looking at a pretty interesting 8 weeks. In all seriousness, I do expect to learn a lot in this class. It has been a long time since I have sat down to draw something, just for the sake of drawing. I am hoping for the best!
