Vacationing

I don't know a lot about having fun on vacation when I actually leave town, but I know how to do it by not leaving my comfort zone!  This week was the first of a couple I will be taking this month.  It has been interesting.

I got to do some gardening, practiced drawing and started a couple new pieces of artwork.  I refinished the old guitar and made a cool wind chime out of old bottles.  All of this with sprinklings of family and friend visits, dates with my husband and even got to work on improving my running times!

On the other hand, there were a couple of less than positive events that are noteworthy.  First, I found out that a friend of mine was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  I have all the faith in the world that she has the strength to fight this and am praying for her even as I type this.

Secondly, my dog died. The day he died is a blur. All I remember is that the only food I ate was ice cream sandwiches.  Seems strange not to get clobbered at the door or to hear the clickity-clack of his toenails.  I just need to keep moving forward on this one.  Everyone knows losing a pet is a bummer, but eventually everything is cool again because of all of the memories.

Tomorrow, I am looking forward to coffee by the river, a long workout, a little bit of shopping and my routine evening walk.

The End.
